A stranger in a lonely land

In the wake of the morning, a stranger walks
Amongst the bare streets of an abandoned town
The streets, once bustling with life, now empty
Just broken pebbles and glass shards
The town seems to have seen much violence
There is a splatter of blood on some broken walls
Where once used to be lofty castles
Now spreads a tale of ruin and doom
Where are the children of this strange land?
Drowned in the seas or killed by humanity?
Where are the youth, where the elderly?
Where the hopes on these dust covered streets?
The stranger looks up at the high skies
No sign of life seems there too
Where are the birds and the beasts?
Why have they left this strange cold land?
The stranger shook his head in despair
Is this what the world has come to?
Bombed schools, hospitals and houses
No wonder the land mocks at him too
The lust for power and wealth has taken away
The jewels that this land used to hold
And the world says that it is a crisis
With so many strangers in strange lands
